Interrupted by books

So many books! Since this week has been too busy for a proper post, let me share my basic stack of reading that I am working on at the moment:

Peak by Roland Smith — this is the “summer reading” assignment book for my son’s high school and I want to be able to chat with him about it if need be. Plus I read the first page and love the voice. I hope it’s good. {{a few days since I wrote this and I can say this is a great book. The voice is so good; the characters are so good, and the fascinating info about climbing, Mr. Everest, etc. — it was like being there. }}

Between Heaven and Mirth: Why Joy, Humor and Laughter are at the Heart of the Spiritual Life by James Martin, SJ. I’ve read the first 24 pages and at times have had really laughed out loud. I would love to craft a big Biblical Storytelling performance — for the Glory of God — that while touching and honoring of scripture also has people rolling with laughter. Maybe I’ll find some insight. Maybe I’ll just enjoy the book!

Promised Land, a SF book by Connie Willis and Cynthia Felice. Connie Willis — it’s going to be good. It’s like a box of candy that is waiting and you hold off because you don’t want to eat it too fast because then it is gone.

The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley. I was looking for another book but stumbled on reviews of this book and well, okay — I am eager to give it it a try! The first paragraph is amazing. This is copyright 1984 so I guess I was the wrong age and stage when it came out.
